CC 220 - Public Discourse in the United States

Credits: 4
This course explores the dynamics of public discourse in the United States, with the goal of training students to critically analyze and understand the complexities of societal issues, and the role communication plays in solving and/or exacerbating political/social issues. It investigates how Americans discuss critical public matters like race, class, and immigration, aiming for students to apply discourse theories to real-world political communication. Sample topics include racial and socioeconomic discussions, workplace dynamics, immigration debates, and case studies in political communication.
