SC 226 - Trees and Forests

Credits: 4
This course introduces students to the biology of trees, including their structure, growth, and reproduction, and the ecology of forests, including the interactions of trees with the physical environment, with other organisms, and with each other. We will explore: the evolution of trees and the biodiversity of forests; the natural resources provided by trees, including food, medicine, and wood products; forest management and conservation; and the roles of trees and forests in global environmental change.
