VM 308 - Cinema and Social ChangeCredits: 4 Throughout cinema’s history, numerous filmmakers have sought to harness the power of the medium and to channel it in the service of political and social change. Have they made a difference, and by what measure and what strategy? Surveying fiction and documentary, commercial and independent cinema, features and shorts, this course aims to offer a wide-ranging examination of the ways directors around the world have employed their art and their craft in the pursuit of fostering social justice.
