CC 306 - Pop Culture and CommunicationCredits: 4 Pop culture is everywhere, but rarely understood from a scholarly perspective. Thus, this course investigates the dynamic relationship between popular culture, communication and society, aiming to equip students with critical analysis skills that can be applied to phenomena in pop culture. Students will explore how communication influences and is influenced by cultural products like movies, music, and social media, aiming for a profound understanding of pop culture’s societal role as a driver of social and cultural change. Topics include analysis of diverse media forms, the concept of “popularity,” and critique methodologies for pop culture elements.
