CC 307 - Media, Sports, and SocietyCredits: 4 This course introduces students to various aspects of the sports-media relationship, including the history of, the industries that constitute, the audiences drawn to, and the social issues that arise from the relationship. Students gain perspective on how audiences are motivated to view and derive enjoyment from mediated sports; analyze the ways in which mediated sports intersect with discourses of gender, race, identity, sexuality, and nationality; and engage in critical thinking and debate about various social and political issues arising from the sports-media relationship.
