IN 340 - Ruled by Conviction: Confronting Narratives of White MasculinityCredits: 4 Explores narratives of White masculinity through the study of how bodies use, and are viewed through the lens of, power and privilege. Drawing on the faculty’s experience of transitioning from living as a queer White woman to living as a White man, and engaging concepts from a broad range of interdisciplinary texts (e.g. race/Whiteness studies, gender/sexuality studies), the course subjects White male bodies to the same scrutiny usually directed at queer, female, Black, Brown, and immigrant bodies in both academic and political contexts.
Course Restrictions: Junior standing Liberal Arts Perspective(s): Interdisciplinary, US Diversity and Justice
