CC 348 - Media RelationsCredits: 4 Students gain an understanding of “who” the media are, what their function is and what the relationship is between a public relations practitioner and the press. Students explore the various types of issues that public relations managers face today; the various types of media, how journalists work and how public relation practitioners can best manage media relationships. Students learn how to set up a press conference, pitch to the press, develop media lists, and manage media during interviews. Class lectures focus on ethics, spin, impact, global communication, public perception, crisis communication, the roles of reporters and determining what is newsworthy.
