JR 652 - Storytelling with Technology

Credits: 4
As big tech platforms race to create more methods for news and content
distribution, media creators need to embrace the disruptions, and students
need to be fluent in multiple new technologies for storytelling. In this course,
students will learn to use technology during the information-gathering process
such as fact-checking in real time, synthesizing data, as well as technology in
the production of storytelling such as animating graphics and interactive
visualization in stories for multiple audiences. We will also experiment with
coding and generative AI as part of the storytelling process. This course also
explores how technology will shape the future in journalism and media for
multiple audiences.
