Drama as Education 1 examines the philosophy behind drama pedagogy as an educational tool in the classroom, workshop/laboratory, and applied theatre settings. Topics include: Drama-Based Pedagogy, Process Drama, Question Design, Understanding by Design(Ubd), Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Educational Strategies for Facilitation and Engagement, National Theatre and Social Justice Standards, and the Underpinnings of Social Justice Education within the art form. There are required hours of pre-practicum work, including observations of local theatre and drama classes in grades pre-K through 12, and is required as a licensure gateway into Drama as Education 2.
