TH 643 - Applied Theatre 2: On the Page and On Our FeetCredits: 4 Through hands-on explorations of theories and practices within the field of Applied Theatre and Community-Engaged Performance students examine and explore, discuss, embody and devise work informed by their study of the theory and practice of key historical and contemporary artists and companies whose work interrogates issues of social justice. Students examine, critique and celebrate overlapping forms and participant-centered practices such as theatre in peacebuilding and development, youth theatre, reminiscence theatre, theatre in prisons, playback theatre, playmaking, theatre for social change and theatre of the oppressed among others. Students collaboratively design, facilitate, and assess their own community-engaged, applied theatre project during the semester.
