VM 260 - Immersive Media in the AI Era

Credits: 4
This course introduces students to the theory and practice of immersive narrative design within the context of rapid technological change and the growing influence of artificial intelligence (AI). Students gain hands-on experience with emerging technologies: augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), 360° filmmaking, virtual production, and prototyping tools. The course explores foundational skills include design thinking, agile filmmaking, iterative storytelling, co-creation methods, rapid prototyping, and user-centered UX/UI design. The course focuses on adaptable design methodologies and strategies to help students thrive in an evolving and collaborative media landscape while fostering critical thinking and artistic exploration with socially conscious creative practices.
