TH 241 - Introduction to Costume Textiles

Credits: 4
Provides students with a comprehensive review of fibers and textiles, natural and human-made, physical and chemical properties, characteristics, production processes and their use in the garment/costume industry. Students develop the ability to recognize and categorize different fibers and textiles and assess their suitability for the construction of costume designs. Class also explores the social and cultural relationship with fabric and how designers incorporate this into their design process. Students are expected to provide appropriate materials as needed.
