CC 352 - The Supreme Court TermCredits: 4 Each year, the United States Supreme Court selects fewer than one hundred highly significant cases from the thousands of cases it is asked to review. This class examines cases on the docket of the current Supreme Court term, focusing on how the Justices interpret and apply law and explain the legal reasoning that supports their decisions and on how lawyers, reporters, and others communicate the practical effects of the decisions to various audiences with particular interests. Students will read and discuss judicial opinions, legal briefs, and commentary and engage in role-playing exercises, written assignments, and oral presentations.
