HI 209 - Modern European and German HistoryCredits: 4 This course focuses on the history of modern Europe, with a particular focus on Germany, from the middle of the 19th century until today. During this period, Europe found and then lost its dominant role as colonizer of much of the world. During the 20th century, the effects of two World Wars, the Cold War, unequal economic progress, and a technological revolution shifted the socio-cultural and political structures not just of the European continent but the world; one that had become more global but not equal. Students will gain knowledge of how the world they live in now is affected by those complex and interconnected histories and processes.
