CA 310 - Clowns, Carnality, and Chaos: Performing Physical Comedy

Credits: 4
An intensive, highly-physical, and collaborative training in the creation and performance of physical comedy/clown. Students learn to work the audience as they play without a “4th wall”, using only their physicality to provoke laughs. The course takes inspiration from the likes of Rowan Atkinson, Lucille Ball, Jackie Chan, Eddie Murphy, Ali Wong, and Sacha Baron Cohen as students develop original and outrageously funny acts full of risk, play, crowd work, and full-bodied commitment. Significant personal and group preparation is required outside of class time.
