CC 212 - Cholera, Condoms, and Contraception: Public Health Then and NowCredits: 4 credits What do seatbelts, sanitation, and sunblock have in common? They are just a few of the prevention interventions that have increased life expectancy worldwide. This course looks at US history through the prism of a public health framework and reviews a number of major milestones in public health. Historical achievements such as vaccines, environmental health, and car safety as well as ethical dilemmas related to quarantine, medical testing, and eugenics are examined. Current hot topics are discussed weekly. (Semester varies)
