CC 235 - Sports CommunicationCredits: 4 credits Sports is a major industry in the United States today, and this course introduces students to the wide-ranging field of sports communication. The course is a comprehensive survey and analysis of the best practices and techniques for effective public relations in the sports industry. Topics include how to define, develop, and deliver an effective campaign; the use of mass and social media platforms for brands, personalities, and teams; and the management and mitigation of crisis. Course pedagogies include case studies, simulations, presentations by professionals associated with the field, writing assignments, and role-playing exercises. (Semester varies)
