CC 306 - Pop Culture and CommunicationCredits: 4 Credits Explores the symbiotic relationship between pop culture and society with emphasis on cultural products consumed by diverse audiences. To conduct an in-depth analysis of pop culture, students examine society’s role in shaping cultural products such as movies, television shows, music, video games, social media, food, art, and fashion, as well as how media is used to attain “popular” status. In addition, the course provides an opportunity for students to critique elements of pop culture and gain a greater understanding of pop culture’s place in society. Prerequisite: sophomore standing. (Semester varies)
