Offers an in-depth study of Shakespearean tragedy and through a range of theoretical and interdisciplinary approaches, addresses how key themes such as love, greed, madness, revenge, fate, fortune and freewill cut across languages and cultures, past and present. It examines the origins and development of Shakespearean tragedy as well as the playwright’s continued ability to move, shock and perversely delight audiences through discussion of contemporary global stage and screen adaptations.
