LI 402 - The Poetic SequenceCredits: 4 Studies the development of the poetic sequence. Defined as a lyric poem in sections liberated from any narrative and thematic scaffolding, it achieves through association, juxtaposition, and tonal shifts that negotiate conflicting energies and passions. The course explores the difference between the lyric sequence and the more recent narrative sequence that redefines the genre. Students also study why the sequence as a genre has become more prevalent in the latter 20th and early 21st centuries.
