4+1 Combined Publishing and Writing, B.A./M.A.

Students may apply for the 4+1 program at the beginning of the first semester of their junior year. Applications are evaluated by the MA graduate program director and faculty of the department. Students are notified of acceptance at the beginning of the second semester of their junior year. The 4+1 MA requires students to take eight graduate-level publishing courses, excluding PB 680, PB 683, PB 688, PB 691, and PB 692 (graduate versions of the required courses listed below). Consult the Graduate Catalog for descriptions of graduate publishing classes. Students pursuing a 4+1 combined baccalaureate and master’s degree must earn at least a B- in each graduate-level (600-level) course in order for the credits from that course to count toward their master’s degree.
