RL 116 - Christian Ways of Life

Credits: 4
Religious faith has been, and continues to be, a powerful force in human life. The Middle East gave birth to three monotheistic belief systems-Judaism, Christianity, and Islam-which have had profound effects on fundamental ideas that eventually spread throughout the world. Course examines the historical contexts that gave birth to the religion, paying particular attention to the philosophical underpinnings of each. Students are introduced to the ways in which each faith shapes moral, political, and aesthetic values.
