VM 216 - History of African and African Diaspora ArtsCredits: 4 credits Examines a diverse selection of art and architecture from regional kingdoms, cultures, and religions of Africa and the African Diaspora. Artworks are contextualized within critical, discursive frameworks of ritual, performance, trade, modernism, craft, and narrative. Considers the politics of colonial history and their impact on art collecting practices and museum display.
