TH 116 - The Whole ActorCredits: 2 Holistic orientation to the creative learning process. Course provides ways for students to actively and responsibly participate in artistic training and practice. Through somatic practices, students develop an awareness of themselves as learners and artists. The learning process will be broadened by lectures, discussions, readings, and guest artist workshops in areas that may include nervous system health, experiential anatomy, and trauma-informed artistic practices. Students develop a reservoir of knowledge about themselves and how they function that will enhance their capacity and resilience as artists and give them resources to personal practices for grounding and relaxation. Course culminates with a project where students create a personal protocol for how to prepare themselves to enter any acting classroom and sustain the work bravely and safely.
Course Restrictions: Acting, Theatre and Performance, and Theatre Education and Performance majors only Liberal Arts Perspective(s):
