CA 431 - Creating the Comedic TV Pilot Script

Credits: 4
An intensive workshop-based class, students complete an original pilot script for comedy TV series from premise to final polished draft. Topics include: Crafting compelling pilot log lines, finding your show’s comedy engine, story structure, outlining, creating comedic characters, building the block comedy scene, using plot devices (voiceover, pops, and more) to amp humor, joke construction/punch-up, dramedy, the mockumentary, building a compelling emotional through-line. The goal is for each student to leave the course with a polished professional original comedy pilot script sample that represents their individual comedic voice and can be used to help secure representation and/or possible employment.
