JR 301 - Cultural CriticismCredits: 4 Arts critics think and write differently than other journalists. Interpretation, the history of aesthetics, the mode of discourse, and the relationship between the artist and their audience carry more weight in this space. How does form relate to content, and what does it mean to assess culture in this “postmodernist” era? Should we consider the concept of “postmodernism” to be a useful tool for interpretation or a fading method that is due for a reckoning? We examine theater, TV, film, music, and books to better understand how cultural critics operate.
