JR 302 - Covering Immigration

Credits: 4
This course is designed to help Journalism students understand the complexities of covering immigration as a beat. Students analyze coverage in the US and gain a working knowledge of the many institutions involved in creating immigration policy as well as a fundamental understanding of immigration law. Students choose an immigrant or refugee community in the Boston area and produce a series of stories, culminating in a multimedia project about a particular challenge that group is facing. 

Prerequisite(s)/Corequisite(s): JR 202 , JR 216 , JR 217 , JR 219 , or JR 221  
Course Restrictions: junior standing
