TH 665 - Student Teaching Practicum

Credits: 2 or 4
The 16-week student teaching semester allows licensure candidates the opportunity to apply teaching knowledge, theory, and practice in a public school classroom. With guidance from the supervising practitioner (cooperating/mentor teacher) and the support of the university program supervisor, teacher candidates (student teachers) are given a professional experience where they assume responsibility for all aspects of the supervising practitioner’s role in the school. This course aligns with the Department of Elementary and Secondary (DESE) guidelines and regulations for Educator Prep Programs for initial licensure. This course supports the teacher candidate (Emerson student teacher), the supervising practitioner (cooperating/mentor teacher in the field who has agreed to host the Emerson student teacher), and the University Program Supervisor (an Emerson faculty member assigned to support, advise, and evaluate the Emerson student teacher).

Prerequisite(s)/Corequisite(s) TH 562 , TH 660 , TH 661 , TH 662
